A hot one 🥵

A sweaty game this evening as Newton battled the heat this to face Okehampton.

Newton started strong immediately pushing forward to test Okehampton’s defence with Aimee Scott and Frankie Thompson causing havoc in the D! Whilst Okehampton initially kept them out, it wasn’t long before they broke through with a wonderful piece of link up play ending with Frankie slotting the ball home for Newton’s first of the match. Frankie had another shot at goal 1v1 with the keeper and it looked certain to be heading for the top corner before an Okehampton defender flew in to save it on the line! 😱🤩

Heading into the second half Newton wanted to capitalise on their opportunities in front of goal and got off to a flying start with Sophie Reed scoring her first of the game quickly followed by her second!

Newton continued to push for more goals with Mandy Isherwood, Meg Smale, Harriet Ellis and Erin Pettican linking through midfield to apply pressure around Okehampton’s D - Newton were rewarded for their efforts with another goal from Sophie Reed giving her her hat trick and Newton a 4-0 win! 🥳
