Six in the sun!

Newton started brightly and took control of the game early on with Frankie slotting home in the opening few minutes, this was quickly followed with a second goal for Newton from Nancy making a driving run into the D. Newton maintained the pressure on Ocean City’s goal and were soon rewarded once again with Vics netting two for herself in quick succession. Ocean City had a couple of forays into Newton’s D but were kept at bay and soon it was Newton who scored again with player of the match Daisy scoring her first before half time, sending Newton into the break with an impressive 5–0 lead.

Ocean City came out fighting in the second half and created more opportunities than in the first and began to put Newton’s defence under pressure. However, Jane and Shawna stood firm in defence, showing great defensive organisation and determination to keep Ocean City at bay.

Ocean City eventually found the back of the net to get on the scoresheet, but it was Newton who had the final say, with Daisy earning her second of the match and Newton’s sixth to round off an excellent team performance, finishing the game 6-1 to Newton!
