Newton were back in action today for their first home game of the season against Kingsbridge & Salcombe 1s.

Newton started strongly, putting Kingsbridge & Salcombe under pressure from the whistle with Cerys, Nikki and Erin creating some great opportunities going forward. Kingsbridge & Salcombe returned the pressure but were dealt with swiftly by Newton’s defence with Jane and Shawna making some key interceptions and player of the match Rosie pulling off some incredible saves to keep Kingsbridge and Salcombe at bay and headed into the break 0-0.

Heading back out for the second half, Newton turned up the pressure and dominated possession, with Daisy, Vics, Frankie and Aimee causing havoc in the D - creating chance after chance. However, Kingsbridge & Salcombe’s defence and keeper did everything they could to keep Newton out, eventually Newton found a way through with Vics firing home giving Newton their breakthrough goal! 🙌

Newton continued to push for a second, but Kingsbridge & Salcombe held firm to keep them out, ending the game 1-0 to Newton and another 3 points on the board! 🥳
