Yesterday the sun finally came out as Newton hosted Ocean City 1s after a 2 week break and were looking to add more points to the league table.

Newton started well with Frankie Thompson, Sophie Gregory and Harriet Ellis linking up beautifully and moving quickly up the pitch putting early pressure on OC's defence. This pressure paid off as Nikki Hobbs calmly moved around the keeper and slotted the ball over the line. Newton pushed for another goal with Eleanor Manley having her effort tipped away with a fantastic save by OC's keeper. Ocean City had several attempts at goal themselves with Newton's defence having to stay alert, Sara Ellis, Jenna Disbury and joint player of the match Rosie Carpenter making some key saves and holding firm giving Newton a 1-0 lead at half time.

Heading back into game after the break Newton were looking to add another goal to their tally but it was Ocean City who struck first capitalising on a defensive slip from Newton.

Newton gathered themselves and upped their tempo with Mandy Isherwood, Ellen Drew, Nikki and Harriet working hard through the midfield to help Newton's attacks. This hard work paid off with joint player of the match Nancy Ellis firing home to restore Newton's lead. The game remained tight until the final whistle, with both teams having chances, however, it was Newton who came away with a deserved win adding another 3 points to their tally.
