Last night Newton Abbot played ISCA in their final group match of the summer league tournament in Exeter.

Newton started brightly wanting to get back to their winning ways after a frustrating defeat last week. Newton pushed forward early in the game initially putting ISCA on the back foot and earned themselves a short corner, Newton seized this moment with Aimee Scott getting the ball over the line and putting Newton 1-0 up early in the game. 🤩

ISCA responded quickly, increasing the pressure on Newton trying to push forwards for their own goal but were kept out by some fabulous defensive play from both midfield and our defence with Rosie Carpenter in goal making some key saves, sending Newton into half time 1-0 up. 👊

Heading into the second half ISCA continued to push forwards searching for that equaliser but at every opportunity Newton pushed them back - Jenna Disbury, Jane Carr and Nancy Ellis worked tirelessly in defence with Meg Smale, Harriet Ellis and Nikki Hobbs supporting and pushing forwards when they could, helping to absorb the pressure ISCA were continuing to mount, however Newton hung on and claimed a 1-0 win and a spot in the Semi Finals next week! We go again. 💪
