Another win!

An early start for Newton today as they travelled over to Dawlish to take on Teign 2s.

Newton came out strong and quickly put the pressure on Teign, forcing them to play out from the back. Newton maintained their presence and this was soon rewarded with an early goal from super sub Charlotte Pettley Verrall - well deserved after she was called into action when Newton had an injury only minutes into the game.

Newton continued to charge forward with excellent link up play between the midfield and forward lines with Mandy Isherwood, Aimee Scott and Nikki Hobbs moving the ball quickly between one another leaving Teign behind as they moved up the pitch. This period of pressure was soon rewarded with a short corner which was buried in the back of the goal by Nikki!

Wanting to keep the momentum going Newton pushed forward once again but Teign were holding strong rebuffing Newton and keeping them out of the D. However, Newton worked hard to maintain the pressure as player of the match Harriet Ellis consistently picked up balls in the middle and carried the team forward in another wave of attack. Newton soon broke through the deadlock and Frankie Thompson snuck a goal in at the back post putting us at 3-0.

Teign fought back though and took advantage of a momentary blip by Newton and scored one of their own. Not happy with having conceded Newton once again charged forward with Harriet, Meg Smale and Eleanor Manley moving the ball swiftly down the pitch before Eleanor played it off to Nikki at the top of the D who once again fired it into the bottom corner for her second and Newton's fourth goal of the game! Sending Newton into half time 4-1 up!

Coming out into the second half Newton wanted to maintain their dominance and try and get a few more goals. Newton pushed forward once again with both Nancy Ellis and Nikki breaking into the D early on, but were kept out by Teign's keeper who made some strong saves. Newton continued to press forward and create chances but were kept at bay. Towards the end of the second half Newton were awarded a short corner and this was Newton's chance with Aimee finding the back of the goal for Newton's fifth of the game, ending the game 5-1 to Newton!
