Head to Head

An important game this week for Newton as they hosted Dart 2 and were looking to get more points on the board to maintain their top of the league run. Dart have been on a run of their own and were just behind Newton in second so this was going to be a tough match for both teams.

The game started end to end with Dart having a few flurries of attack before Newton returned the favour, it wasn't long though before Newton started to up the tempo and started to move the ball around between Harriet Ellis, Mandy Isherwood and Nikki Hobbs - moving the ball up the pitch and interchanging nicely with the forward line. After a few waves of attack Nancy Ellis found the goal as the ball crept over the line and Newton had their first of the game! This fired Newton forward and soon player of the match Frankie Thompson fired two more goals home putting us 3-0 up at halftime!! 😱

Going out into the second half Newton knew Dart were going to batten down the hatches and try to keep Newton out. The game was once again end to end with both teams having chances but Newton's defence remained firm in keeping Dart out. It was Nancy who broke the deadlock in the second half taking advantage of some pile up chaos in the D and sending the ball into the back of the goal for her second of the game!

The game ended 4-0 to Newton and they continue their run at the top. 👊😎
