Well...what a game!

Today Newton faced up against their old foes Torbay 1s. Torbay started quick and caught Newton off guard winning a short corner in the first few minutes and scoring from it  Newton collected themselves and after that dominated in possession and pressured Torbay's defence, with fantastic link up play between Harriet Ellis, Nikki Hobbs, Mandy Isherwood and Aimee Scott. Torbay were resilient but Newton eventually broke through with a short corner of their own with joint player of the match Nancy Ellis firing the ball into the goal! 5 minutes from half time and there was more drama to come, with Sara Ellis taking a ball to the face and Newton played on with 10 for rest of the half.

Going into the second half Newton were feeling positive and buoyed by Sara's decision to carry on they came out looking for more goals. The game went from end to end with both sides having chances at goal, Torbay were kept at bay by some fab defending by Charlotte Meakin and Sara and some excellent saves by Rosie Carpenter before Newton and Nancy got their second goal of the game!

Torbay replied in kind and equalised but Newton weren't going accept a draw from today's game, determined to get 3 points Newton launched themselves forward with Torbay withstanding waves of Newton attacks before the other player of the match Eleanor Manley fired in the winning goal! Finishing the game 3-2 to Newton!
