What a start to the new season!

Newton Abbot travelled down to Plymouth this morning to face up against Ocean City 2s. Newton started brightly with Nikki Hobbs, Harriet Ellis and Mandy Isherwood combining to put pressure on OCs defence, OC however stood strong and withheld Newton's persistent attack. An OC foray into Newton's territory resulted in a short corner which was fabulously saved by Rosie Carpenter in goal! Undeterred, Newton continued to work hard and it soon paid off with Aimee Scott and Frankie Thompson combining resulting in Frankie firing Newton into the lead putting Newton 1-0 up before half time! 🤩

Newton came out into the second half looking for more goals but were once again held back by OCs defence. Newton had to think hard and play smart. Nancy Ellis and player of the match Holly Wines combined through the middle bringing the ball and the pressure up the pitch with Newton eventually finding their second goal of the game through Nikki! Newton's attack continued to dominate with Aimee having the final say of the game scoring seconds before the final whistle ending the game 3-0 to Newton!! 🤩🥳
